NOVEMBER IS THE MONTH OF ALL SOULS

There will be a Book of Remembrance placed on the altar for the month of November. You are invited to write the names of your deceased relatives and friends in the book. They will be remembered at all the Masses celebrated in November.

ATTENTION WOMEN PARISHIONERS

“Maryholme” is a Loretto retreat house. We have arranged to have an Advent Day of Reflection there on Thursday, December 4th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The retreat house is on Lake Simcoe, an hour’s drive…. so we will carpool. If you are interested in attending, please contact Mary Landry at 416-221-8866, Ext. 224. More information next week.

BIBLE STUDY WITH FR. BERNARD

Grow in your faith by studying the Bible regularly. Fr. Bernard will lead a Bible study group on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM. All are welcome. Bring a friend and your Bible.

SHEPHERDS’ TRUST COLLECTION

The Shepherds’ Trust is an archdiocesan retirement program that provides elderly and infirm priests with the financial support they require to lead a dignified life after many years of service to us. This collection will take place in our parish the weekend of November 15th/16th. The contributions received from our parish plus other “religious order” parishes will be allocated to each order’s retirement fund. Please note that all contributions are tax-deductible. Thank you for caring for those who always cared for us!

THANK YOU

The beautiful Jade tree that can be seen at the south end of the Gathering Space is a gift from Lena and Alfred Nardi. The tree is 25 years old and blooms throughout the winter months. We want to thank Lena and Alfred for this beautiful gift.

ALTAR LINEN COMMITTEE

There will be a meeting for all volunteers who clean the altar linen on Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 PM in the Sacristy.

ST. GABRIEL’S YOUTH GROUP

The Youth Group of St. Gabriel’s will hold a reorganizational meeting on Sunday, November 16th after the 12:30 Mass. This is an opportunity for those ages 14 to 35 to become involved. We look forward to seeing you there.

PASSIONIST CHRISTMAS CARDS

Passionist Christmas cards will be available after all the Masses next weekend, November 15th/16th. A donation of $1.50 per card is suggested.

ST. GABRIEL’S SCHOOL ADOPT A VILLAGE PROGRAM

We are pleased to announce that St. Gabriel’s School raised over $6,000 towards the construction of a clean water project in Kenya, Africa. Again, these students want to make a difference in the lives of suffering children in the world. This year they have chosen a new goal and hope to fund raise $14,000 to help build a school in Africa. In preparation for Advent, students will sell Advent Candle kits after all the Masses on the weekend of November 22/23 at $5.00 each. Your support to help these children touch the lives of needy children will be greatly appreciated.

MULTICULTURAL POTLUCK DINNER

On November 29th, 2008 at 6:30 PM, we will be hosting a multicultural potluck dinner in the Gathering Space. Participants will bring in food from their own ethnic backgrounds to share with the group. Stay tuned for more information about the potluck. Tickets, at $5 each, will be available beginning the weekend of November 15th/16th. Seats are limited so please get your tickets early.

THE FIRST NATIONS PROJECT

Last month we alerted you to a project being planned by a group of synagogues in the Bayview corridor to collect sports equipment for two First Nations communities near Owen Sound. Now this project is moving forward. If you have equipment to donate, and this can include skates, hockey equipment, skis and bicycles, please call the Parish Office at 416-221-8866 for drop-off instructions.
