EVENING OF REFLECTION AND PRAYER HONOURING MARY

Thursday, May 31st, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

The parish will be honouring Mary with an Evening of reflection and prayer on Thursday, May 31st at 8:00 PM. In our Church, May has always been the month dedicated to Mary. In view of the very positive feedback for this year’s Good Friday morning prayer, we wish again to take a look at the life of Mary and how it sheds light on our lives today. You are especially encouraged to come if you have missed the one on Good Friday.

PLANNING TO BE A CATHOLIC TEACHER?

It is important for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario, as part of your application for employment, there must be a letter of reference from your pastor. If you (or if your adult child) is planning to apply to teach in a Catholic School, a contact with the pastor before Thanksgiving is highly recommended.
Please plan to have a conversation with your Pastor early in the process, well before applications are to be submitted.

THANK YOU FROM ROSALIE HALL

On behalf of the young parents and staff at Rosalie Hall, I would like to thank everyone at St. Gabriel’s Parish for the generous donation of food. Through your thoughtfulness and generosity our emergency food bank will once again serve to help our young families when they are hungry and most in need. It is with the support of our community friends, like St. Gabriel’s Parish, that Rosalie Hall will continue to help young families achieve their dreams.

Vicki Garden,
Rosalie Hall

SHARELIFE CHALLENGE

A donor has challenged parishioners, schools, employee groups and corporate supporters to match up to $650,000 in new and increased contributions to the 2012 ShareLife Campaign. Should we realize the maximum potential of this effort, over one million new dollars would be raised for the work of our agencies. At a time when our social service agencies are reporting increased demands for their services, these new funds would help to introduce new programs and reduce waiting times for services for the marginalized in our communities.

WORKING WONDERS FOR THE YOUTH…

Mitch was 15 when he was kicked out of home by his mentally unstable mother. He lived on the streets, stole food, dropped out of school. To ward off the cold, “finding grates was the big thing”. Mitch was saved from the dangers of the streets by Covenant House, a ShareLife agency. Today, he lives in the agency’s shelter and attends its on-site high school. In 2011, ShareLife agencies provided residential programs for 1,500 young people. An additional 40,000 were also given food, shelter, guidance, care and education. Please support ShareLife

3rd ShareLife collection – June 3rd, 2012
Please give generously. You can work WONDERS!

ShareLife Total for 2011: $184,642
ShareLife To Date: $86,632
