Convocation of Laity – 2017

June 9th to 11th, 2017

Jamaica, New York

The Passionist Province of St. Paul of the Cross and its Commission on the Laity are sponsoring the Convocation on the Laity on June 9-11, 2017. The theme of the Convocation is “We are the Passionists: Walking Together in Mission.” This will be a gathering of laity and professed Passionists for our mutual enrichment, encouragement and creative empowerment. It features keynote speakers, informative & timely workshops, and together the participants explore the expression of Passionist spirituality. The event will be held at the Passionists’ retreat house in Jamaica, NY.

Passionist Bishop Neil Tiedemann, C.P. will be able preaching and presiding at the Convocations’s concluding liturgy! Other keynote speakers: Fr. Martin Coffey, C.P. from Rome, Sr. Joanne Fahey, C.P., Fr. Robert Joerger, C.P., and Shane Claiborne (passionate international Christian activist) from Philadelphia all are expressing their excitement about sharing faith with you.

St Paul of the Cross founded the Congregation of the Passion in 1741. He wanted all his followers to try to keep alive in the world the love of Jesus crucified, especially for those who are suffering. For over three centuries the Passionist family has grown to include Passionist priests, brothers, nuns, sisters and laity. More recently, laity have become connected as Passionist Associates, colleagues in ministry, International Volunteers and other ways. Join us as we explore and celebrate the Passionist family!

This event is open to all. Registrations have already come in from New Mexico, Florida, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Massachusetts. Space is limited and you are encouraged to take advantage of the lower registration rate which ends March 1, 2017. You will be able to register after that but rates go up!
