Lectors

Lectors are readers who proclaim God’s Word in the Scriptures to the assembled faith community at the Sunday masses. Three month schedules are prepared and Lectors are assigned to read once a month. Invited Lectors must also be registered as belonging to St. Gabriel’s Parish

This ministry requires certain abilities, such as adequate vocal instrument and communication skills, as well as an understanding of the liturgical importance of the Liturgy of the Word.

There is a current roster of 33 regular readers, with the addition of four Grade 8 students, who have opted to do this to fulfill their service requirement as they prepare for Confirmation. These students have indicated natural ability, but some further training enhances their effective vocal variety and delivery.
