The Story of the Mass
Tuesday February 8th at 7:30 PM
Wednesday, February 9th at 10:30 AM

FROM SIERRA GRILL RESTAURANT
Recently, one of our waiters contracted Hepatitis A during a vacation overseas. Before being diagnosed, he worked at lunch on Sunday, Jan. 23rd. According to Toronto Public Health, all patrons who were here on Jan. 23rd – and only Jan. 23rd – should be vaccinated, although the risk of exposure is very low. There is no risk to any of our patrons who dined here prior to Jan. 23rd or on, or after, Jan. 24th.
Please understand that:

  • This is an isolated case involving a waiter, not a food handler.
  • The illness was contracted overseas.
  • Though low, any risk of exposure is limited only to customers present on January 23rd.
  • There were no food related issues; Sierra Grill was never closed and our record with Toronto Public Health remains unblemished.

If you have any questions, please call us at 416-224-1700. We look forward to seeing you in the restaurant soon.

LUNAR NEW YEAR PARTY

Lunar New Year for a few East Asian cultures (e.g. Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese) falls on February 3rd this year. This is when they traditionally celebrate their new year. For many years, the Asian community in our parish has gifted our parish community with a big New Year Party.
This year our Lunar New Year Party will take place on February 13th after the 12:30 PM Mass in the Gathering Space. Please mark your calendar! Volunteers and donations are welcome. Please contact Linda Law at 416-918-8029.

This New Year will be the Year of the Rabbit. During the party, there will be balloons twisted to the shape of rabbits. At the request of the two young people who are responsible for this activity, there will be a free-will donation for the balloons, and the proceeds will go to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

THE GREEN CORNER

The Global Footprint is an accounting tool. It enables us to measure how much productive land and sea of the planet are used by any given segment of a population. We can use it to calculate how many acres it takes to support the lifestyle (e.g. for food, clothing, fuel, housing, transportation) of an individual, an industry or a country.

According to 2010 data (www.footprintnetwork.org), the per capita acreage each of the following countries needs to support its lifestyle:

India – 1.9 acres
Ethiopia – 2.7 acres
France – 12.4
Canada – 17.3
U.S.A. – 19.8
