“CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT”

Catholic Education Week
May 1st – 6th

Our publicly funded Catholic schools invite parishioners to join them in celebrating Catholic Education Week 2011, which runs
from May 1st to May 6th. During this week, the Catholic community celebrates the distinctive contribution that Catholic schools make to our students, our community, to our society and to the province at large. Catholic education continues to integrate Gospel values into every aspect of the school’s life and curriculum.
For more information about Catholic Education Week or to find your local school board, visit GoodNewsForAll.ca or the Archdiocese of Toronto online at www.archtoronto.org.

Thanks to all those who provide leadership in our schools. In particular we thank the Principal and Staff of St. Gabriel’s School for the wonderful work they do. We pray for all educators and students, giving thanks to God for all those who faithfully spread the Good News.

SHARELIFE

Working wonders for single and teen parents

When Janelle came to Rosalie Hall, a ShareLife agency, she was a young, single mother suffering from a decade-old abusive relationship. Emotionally unstable and with low esteem, she was relying on Employment Insurance to live. Rosalie Hall helped Janelle regain her strength and independence. Today, hoping for a brighter future for her and her child, she has left the abusive relationship she was in and is studying to be a social worker. In 2009, ShareLife agencies provided help to more than 11,000 young people – offering counseling to 1,964 pregnant youth and young mothers.

Today is the 2nd ShareLife Collection. Your support will sustain the work of our ShareLife agencies. Please give generously. You can work WONDERS!

GREEN CORNER

The heavens declare the glory of God.

How then, tell me, do they declare it? Voice they have none; mouth they possess not; no tongue is theirs! How then do they declare? By means of the spectacle itself. For when thou sees the beauty, the breadth, the height, the position, the form, the stability thereof during so long a period; hearing as it were a voice, and being instructed by the spectacle, thou adores Him who created a body so fair and strange! The heavens may be silent, but the sight of them emits a voice that is louder than a trumpet’s sound.

John Chrysostom
