Bulletin – September 25

In this week’s bulletin, the Good Shepherd Centre Thanksgiving food drive, and the Eco-sabbath.

ROMAN MISSAL – THE NEW TRANSLATION

Until the early 1960s, the Mass was celebrated in Latin throughout the world. At the Second Vatican Council, in the early 1960s, it was agreed that Mass could be said in the language of the people where it was being celebrated. There would be no fundamental change to the Mass itself, just the language being used.
An English translation was made available as quickly as possible, but it was intended to be temporary. A more considered translation would be issued later. Now, some 40 years later, this translation has been approved by the Vatican and we will begin using it in our parishes on the weekend of November 26th/27th. Until that time, we will have the chance to learn more about the new translation, becoming familiar with some of the changes and reflect on the Eucharist in our own lives. For more information on the Roman Missal and its changes, visit www.archtoronto.org/romanmissal anytime to continue your reflection.
In preparation for the introduction of the 3rd edition of the Roman Missal, the Archdiocese of Toronto will present workshops at a number of locations for parishioners interested in learning more about the impending changes. Please see the poster on the bulletin board for more detail.
To register, please advise the Parish Office of the location you wish to attend. This is to ensure that sufficient materials will be available at each location.

ADULT FAITH DEVELOPMENT

Our journey of life and journey of faith are meant to converge
at an early age. For many of us, however, we tend to grow physically, mentally, psychologically etc., but remain at a childish level of understanding our faith. The following information is for those who wish to keep growing, to be able to enjoy the Good News of God’s love for us as members of God’s Church.

R.C.I.A.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) meetings begin
on Monday, September 19th at 7:30 PM. These evenings are for persons interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. Because the Parish Community itself is considered the official teacher and guide for potential new members, it is important that some parishioners participate by being present and by sharing their Faith in various ways. It is also an opportunity for “Born Catholics” to deepen their understanding of the faith. Adult Catholics who wish to celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist and/or Confirmation are welcome. For more information, please call Mary Landry at 416 – 221 – 8866, Ext. 224.

R.C.I.A. in Cantonese will also be offered this year. If you are interested, please contact Fatima Lee at 416-221-8866, Ext. 228.

A LOOK AT THE NEW MASS

On the first Sunday of Advent, we will begin using a Missal with some changes in the wording of the prayers. The text is available to us and you are invited to join us and familiarize yourself with the new way of celebrating the Eucharist.
For more information and to register, please contact Mary Landry at 416-221-8866, Ext. 224
