SAVE THE DATE! PARISH LENTEN RETREAT

Saturday, April 6th from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM

Our Parish Lenten Retreat will take place on Saturday, April 6th. It will be led by the prominent Passionist priest working in Haiti, Fr. Rick Frechette CP. Fr. Rick will also preach at all the Masses Saturday and Sunday.

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

Saturday, March 23rd and April 6th

Nativity of Our Lord Parish or St. Joseph the Worker Parish,

From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Our parish will be starting a Bereavement Ministry (or Ministry of Consolation). We need some volunteers who would like to consider assisting us in this much needed ministry. The Office of Formation for Discipleship is offering a two-day training session for all who would like to consider assisting in this bereavement ministry. The participants are required to attend both days in order to complete the training. The Bereavement Training Ministry will be held on Saturday, March 23rd and April 6th, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

This training will be offered at the following two locations via video conferencing:

Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 480 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, or

St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 1100 Mary Street North, Oshawa

There is no cost to attend. Cost of optional participant workbook: $40 (Please make cheque payable to R.C.E.C.)

Please bring your own lunch. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

The program will include live presentations and video-conferencing between St. Joseph the Worker (Oshawa) and Nativity of Our Lord Parish (Etobicoke).

Please contact Sr. Maria Lucia at the Parish Office if you would like to attend the two-day session so she can register you on-line. Make sure to inform her about the location where you would like to attend the training.

ASH WEDNESDAY

Wednesday, March 6th, 2019

March 6th is Ash Wednesday. Special Masses will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon and 7:30 PM. Ashes will be distributed. There will be no 9:00 AM Mass.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Stations of the Cross will take place each Friday evening during Lent at 7:30 PM.

We also encourage your attendance at our daily Mass throughout Lent.

FIRST COMMUNION INTERVIEWS

Interviews for children who are preparing to receive their First Communion are now being scheduled.

Interviews will begin on Tuesday, April 23rd and continue until Friday May 10th. They are scheduled every 15 minutes from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

FOOD FOR ROSALIE HALL & GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE

Each month the food we collect is sent to Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre.

Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential through the provision of a wide range of child development, community, residential and educational services.

Good Shepherd provides hot meals and shelter for the homeless in our city as well as a chance to start again through the Resettlement or DARE Programs.

Your food donations are more important than ever as the winter continues and numbers of needy people continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired. Thank you for your generous support.

WALK-IN COUNSELLING CLINIC

Two Locations, Open Tuesdays or Thursdays

Catholic Family Services of Toronto in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Toronto and the Ontario Government, offers walk-in counseling services for individuals, couples and families.. The single-session consultation is aimed at helping clients set goals and build on their strengths and resources. No appointment or referral is required and fees are geared to income. Clients are served on a first come first serve basis

There are 2 locations:

245 Fairview Mall Drive, suite 201 open on Thursdays from

9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE CASSEROLES

Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 45 casseroles for February. For March, your prepared casseroles (frozen please) will be collected at the Masses on the weekend of March 30th/ 31st for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.

More volunteers are encouraged to become active in helping to feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Three different recipes are available in the Parish Office or online at the Church website. You may pick up casserole pans at the Parish Office.

ANNUAL MASS OF ST PATRICK

The Annual Mass of St. Patrick will be held at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica on Saturday, March 16th at 10:00 AM. The presider and homilist will be Fr. Edward J. Curtis, Rector. All are welcome.

St. Augustine’s Seminary

Young Catholic men ages 17 and older are invited to cultivate a deeper prayer life and relationship with Jesus Christ, leading to a better discernment of God’s call for their lives. Registrants age 17 will require a parental consent.

GARDEN MINISTRY COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT

Thank you to everyone who donated supplies and funds to the indoor planting phase of the Community Garden project and to those of you praying for a bountiful harvest! Donations are still being gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at the office. The indoor planting of seeds will take place on March 31st. More details will follow.

The next meeting of the Garden Ministry will be on Sunday, March 10th at 1:30 PM in the Library. Everyone is welcome.
