SHARELIFE

Your helping hand is the answer

After two years of crisis, our communities need hope and healing. That hope can be found in you – the “hands and feet of Christ” making possible the life-changing work of ShareLife agencies.

Vulnerable people are turning to these agencies for support more than ever. And the problems are many, ranging from mental illness, to poverty, addiction and isolation.

The solution is in reach: your hands and ours, working together to live the Gospel.

March 27th is ShareLife Sunday.
Please give generously.

GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE CASSEROLES

For March, your prepared frozen casseroles are being collected at the Masses next weekend for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.

More volunteers are needed to become active in helping to feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Three different recipes are available in the Parish Office or online at the Parish website. Casserole pans are also available from the Parish Office. If you require more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416-221-2791.

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF

As you know, Russia has invaded Ukraine, resulting in widespread violence and a looming humanitarian crisis. In response to the request of parishioners, the Archdiocese of Toronto has launched a humanitarian relief effort to help the Ukrainian people at this time.

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians have already fled their homes and are trying to find shelter in neighbouring countries. The United Nations estimates that there could eventually be up to five million Ukrainian refugees, depending on how the war transpires.

During Lent, a donation to help Ukrainians who are suffering due to this war would be a most appreciated gift.

The Archdiocese of Toronto will channel donations to support the Office for Refugees, Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA).

ORAT is Canada’s largest private Sponsorship Agreement Holder, which helps bring hundreds of newcomers to our country each year. It will use donations to bring Ukrainian refugees to Canada as soon as possible.

Your donation will help Ukrainians who are beset by violence in Eastern Europe and it will help some of them find a new home in Canada.

Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:

Online through the Archdiocese of Toronto website: www.archtoronto.org

By phone through the Development Office – 416-934-3411

Through the parish, making cheques payable to:
St. Gabriel’s Parish – Ukraine Relief –

Please continue to pray for the Ukrainian people and all those who suffer under the human tragedy of war. Thank you for your continued assistance.

FOOD FOR ROSALIE HALL & GOOD SHEPHERD

Once again thank you for your generous support of Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre.

Your food donations are very much appreciated by the homeless of our city. The numbers of needy people continue to increase each day. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired.

THE GARDEN SHED

As you can hear, in the birdsongs that once again fill the air, and see, in the seedlings sprouting in the library and at the entrance to the parking garage, the growing season is well and truly underway.

This Sunday, March 20th, the children participating in the Children’s Liturgy at the 10:30 AM Mass will be planting vegetable seeds (indoors) for our Good Shepherd Ministries community garden. If you have a child attending, please ensure that they arrive dressed in their “garden best” rather than their “Sunday best,” as they will be handling soil and water.

To contact the Garden Committee, please email sgpgardenministry@gmail.com.

FINANCE CORNER

Please pick up your Offertory envelopes in the Gathering Space if you have not already done so. Thank you.
