MUSIC CONCERT

June 24th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

St. Gabriel’s Parish

Two members from our parish’s music ministry, Christian Umipig (cantor and accompanist) and Joshua Tamayo (accompanist) will be holding a music concert on Saturday June 24th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at St. Gabriel’s Parish. Admission is by donation and proceeds from the concert will support the young adults of our parish who are attending World Youth Day in August. Join us for an evening of classical music as well as refreshments and the opportunity to meet our young adults during intermission.

HOSPITALITY MINISTERS NEEDED

As we approach summer, we invite parishioners to volunteer their time and assist with hospitality at our church. Volunteers are needed most at the 4:30 PM, 8:30AM and 12:30 PM Masses.

MASS: NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY

Native Peoples’ Mission, St. Ann’s Church, 120 First Avenue, Toronto

His Grace Archbishop Francis Leo will celebrate Mass at the Native Peoples’ Mission in observance of National Indigenous Peoples Day. The day honours and celebrates the culture and heritage of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people on Wednesday, June 21st at 7:00 PM

Following Mass, a reception will be held in the parish hall. All are Welcome

JPIC COMMITTEE SURVEY

After All the Masses, June 10th/ 11th

The Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee (JPIC) at St. Gabriel’s is gearing up with its activities this Fall. We would like to invite everyone to participate in a brief survey which will identify the issue/s most important for you and for us as a parish to be involved in. Tables will be set up in the Gathering Space for the surveys that will be done after all the Masses during the weekend of June 10th/11th.

Show your love for others by giving on ShareLife Sunday

Today’s Gospel talks about God’s love for us that he gave us his only Son for us to be saved through his life and sacrifice.

We are called to live by this love and faithfulness. Your generous contributions speak of love for others and allow ShareLife agencies take care of those in most need.

CARING FOR THE HOMELESS IN OUR CITY

Thank you for your generous support of Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre. They are very grateful. Your food donations are very important as numbers of people in need continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired.

GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE CASSEROLES

Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 52 casseroles for May. This is a wonderful response! For June, your prepared frozen casseroles will be collected at all the Masses on the weekend of June 24th /25th to be delivered to the Good Shepherd Centre.

You may pick up a copy of a casserole recipes and a pan from the Parish Office. Three recipes are also available on St. Gabriel’s web site. Please remember to mark the label on the pan lid with the name of the casserole. Keep up the great work!

THE GARDEN SHED

We’ve planted some seeds in the community garden and the blueberry patch is in bloom. Their little flowers hold the promise of a bountiful harvest this year.

“JOURNEY THROUGH PERMACULTURE GARDENING”

A workshop hosted by the Garden Ministry.

Join us on Saturday June 10th from 12:30 to 3:30 PM in the Saint Gabriel’s Garden for a workshop on permaculture gardening.

This is a hands-on outdoor gardening event. Topics include hugelkultur, organic soil health, and companion planting. Dress appropriately for the weather. There will also be a tea tasting from plants in our garden and refreshments provided.

OPENING: SUMMER GARDENING POSITION FOR YOUTH

St. Gabriel’s has received a Canada Summer Jobs grant from the federal government for a Gardening Helper, between the ages of 15 to 30, to assist with gardening tasks 30 hours per week for 9 weeks, beginning early June. Work can include, but not be limited to watering, weeding, planting, transplanting, soil preparation, pruning, harvesting, mulching, cleaning up debris and care of garden tools.
