In this week’s bulletin: the annual barbeque picnic, and a photo directory of all our church families.
With upcoming elections in October, the Archbishop wants to make sure that you good people are registered as Separate School Supporters. If you moved recently, you lost your Separate School Supporter status and must apply to be reinstated. Forms are available at the door of the Church to help you in this matter. After the past regretful events on our School Board, it is important that we have a good turnout in October in order to revitalize our board and regain our credibility in the community.
Our journey of life and journey of faith are meant to converge at an early age. For many of us, however, we tend to grow physically, mentally, psychologically etc., but remain at a childish level of understanding our faith. The following information is for those who wish to keep growing, to be able to enjoy the Good News of God’s love for us as members of God’s Church.
Monday Nights are R.C.I.A. Nights R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) meetings begin on Monday, September 20th, 2010 at 8:00 PM. These evenings are for persons interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. Because the Parish Community itself is considered the official teacher and guide for potential new members, it is important that some parishioners participate by being present and by sharing their Faith in various ways. It is also an opportunity for “Born Catholics” to deepen their understanding of the faith. Adult Catholics who wish to celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist and/or Confirmation are welcome. For more information, please call Mary Landry at 416 – 221 – 8866.
Congratulations to those children from St. Gabriel’s School who received their First Communion as a group on Sunday, June 13th. It was a beautiful celebration. We promise to support them with our prayers as they continue on their journey of faith.

Next year, in 2011, we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of St. Gabriel’s Parish. With our ever-changing church family, it is not always possible to call each other by name. To continue to create a special sense of community within the parish, we have decided that a photo directory of all our church families would be an invaluable reference and a beautiful, long lasting memento of our 60th anniversary throughout the years to come. IPC Canada Photo Services Inc. will provide each participating family (household) with a free copy of the directory and an opportunity to purchase additional studio-quality portraits at less than studio prices. There is no obligation to purchase. Your help and cooperation is needed to make this project a complete success. Would you be interested in volunteering to work on this project? If so, please call the Parish Office at 416-221-8866.
Saturday, June 26th at 6:00 PM
This is the first time that our annual picnic will be held on a Saturday evening – with the hope that it will be cooler and more relaxing than a hot Sunday afternoon. Mark your calendars for this special evening with family and friends. Please bring your lawn chairs.
We do need volunteers. If you are able to help organize this great event or help on the day itself, please contact Linda Law at 416-918-8029 after 6:00 PM. There are also sign-up sheets on the tables at the back of the church.
[T]he ecological crisis … is evident in many parts of Canada. Our wasteful consumerist lifestyle, combined with political and industrial short-sightedness and neglect, are damaging our air, land, and water. Personal, social, and political change will be necessary to meet this national challenge.
