Our journey of life and journey of faith are meant to converge at an early age. For many of us, however, we tend to grow physically, mentally, psychologically etc., but remain at a childish level of understanding our faith. The following information is for those who wish to keep growing, to be able to enjoy the Good news of God’s love for us as members of God’s Church.
Monday Nights are R.C.I.A. Nights
R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) meetings begin on Monday, September19th at 8:00 PM. These evenings are for persons interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. Because the Parish Community itself is considered the official teacher and guide for potential new members, it is important that some parishioners participate by being present and by sharing their Faith in various ways. It is also an opportunity for “Born Catholics” to deepen their understanding of the faith. Adult Catholics who wish to celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist and/or Confirmation are welcome. For more information, please call Mary Landry at 416 – 221 – 8866.
Registration forms for the Children’s Faith Program for next year are now available in the Parish Office. Please note that all registrations must be returned by June 30th, 2011. If your child will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion or Confirmation, please fill out a Registration form for the Sacraments. These are also available in the Office.
ShareLife Collection 2010: $187,836.42 ShareLife Collection To Date: $143,516.53
As we come into the warmer months, food donations tend to drop off. In response to the very great need for food in our community, we are asking that you continue to fill the baskets in the Gathering Space. Thank you for your wonderful generosity.
Your prepared chicken rice casseroles (frozen please) will be collected at the Masses next weekend for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre. More volunteers are encouraged to get a copy of the casserole recipe and a pan and give it a try. For more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416 221-2791.
Please note that the collection days for the summer months are July 30/31 and August 27/28.
The Shepherds’ Trust is about caring for those who always cared for us – our priests. They were with us to celebrate our marriage and blessed the exchanging of our vows. They baptized our children and welcomed them into the faith. They were by our side to console and provide strength, during periods of uncertainty and great sadness. This is why thousands of parishioners give to the Shepherds’ Trust. They have a personal story. A donation is one way to give thanks for making a life-long commitment to others. How has a priest played a meaningful role in your life? The Shepherds’ Trust wants you to share your story. Submit your story by emailing mrogucki@archtoronto.org or by visiting the website at www.shepherdstrust.org or mail them to: The Shepherd’s Trust, c/o Marisa Rogucki Catholic Pastoral Centre 1155 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4T 1W2 UPDATE ON OUR REFUGEE FAMILY
Please keep our Iraqi Refugee family in your prayers. We had been expecting them to arrive in June but recent events in Syria, where they are currently, appear to have slowed the immigration process. Our parish has raised $21,800.00 towards our target of $35,000.00 needed to support this family of 4 adults and 1 child for a year. Thank you for your continued support!
Have you been cleaning out drawers and cupboards? Perhaps you have come across old eye glasses which are of no use to you. If so, you can donate them so that others might see. Glasses will be sent to Ghana Rural Integrated Development, the Canadian counterpart of the Northern Empowerment Association which is based in Ghana, West Africa. Donated glasses may be left in the box provided in the Parish Office.
June 11th/12th Our operating expenses average $13,300 per week.
Loose Change – $1,061 Envelopes (404) – $8,378 Weekly Portion of Pre-Authorized Giving (158) – $3,147 Total – $12,586
The “Pre-Authorized Giving” Plan (PAG), authorized and supported by the Archdiocese of Toronto, is a direct debit program. It allows parishioners to make their regular offertory donations by automatic monthly bank withdrawal on or about the 20th of each month. Participation in the PAG provides a regular dependable cash flow of contributions to the parish and enables us to better manage the Parish finances. Why not consider this if you will be away for the summer? PAG brochures and sign-up forms are available in the Parish Office. We thank you for your generosity and support.
For those who had their individual family pictures taken for the St. Gabriel’s Photo Directory, your copy of the book can be picked up in the Gabriel Room this weekend after all the Masses.
Sunday, June 26th after the 12:30 Mass
Mark your calendars for this special event with family and friends. Please bring your lawn chairs. We need volunteers. If you are able to help organize this great event or help on the day itself, please contact Linda Law at 416-918-8029 after 6:00 PM. There are also sign-up sheets on the tables at the back of the church.
The north parking lot will be closed on Sunday to allow the volunteers to set up.
We have decided to continue meeting over the summer. Meeting at 11:00 AM appears to suit people. See you next Thursday!

Grant me the ability to be alone, May it be my custom to go outdoors each day among the trees and grasses, among all growing things and there may I be alone, and enter into prayer to talk with the one that I belong to.
