A MESSAGE FROM CARDINAL CARTER
As our elected officials consider pending legislation regarding anti-bullying initiatives impacting schools throughout the province, parishioners are invited to read a statement from Cardinal Collins that was released on May 28, 2012. The communication expresses deep concerns regarding a sudden change in policy by our government leaders.
You are encouraged to visit the Archdiocese of Toronto website to view the statement in its entirety. Additional resources can be found on the website of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario.
ADULT FAITH DEVELOPMENT
Our journey of life and journey of faith are meant to converge at an early age. For many of us, however, we tend to grow physically, mentally, psychologically etc., but remain at a childish level of understanding our faith. The following information is for those who wish to keep growing, to be able to enjoy the Good news of God’s love for us as members of God’s Church.
R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) meetings begin
In the fall. These evenings are for persons interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. Because the Parish Community itself is considered the official teacher and guide for potential new members, it is important that some parishioners participate by being present and by sharing their Faith in various ways. It is also an opportunity for “Born Catholics” to deepen their understanding of the faith. Adult Catholics who wish to celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist and/or Confirmation are welcome. For more information, please call the Parish Office at 416-221-8866.
PLANNING TO BE A CATHOLIC TEACHER?
It is important for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario, as part of your application for employment, there must be a letter of reference from your pastor. If you (or if your adult child) is planning to apply to teach in a Catholic School, a contact with the pastor before Thanksgiving is highly recommended.
Please plan to have a conversation with your Pastor early in the process, well before applications are to be submitted.

CASSEROLES FOR THE GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE
Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 41 casseroles for May. For June, your prepared casseroles (frozen please) will be collected at the Masses on the weekend of June 25/26, 2011 for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.
More volunteers are urgently needed to become active in helping to feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Please, pick up a copy of the recipe and a casserole pan and get involved. For more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416 221-2791.
SHARELIFE CHALLENGE
A donor has challenged parishioners, schools, employee groups and corporate supporters to match up to $650,000 in new and increased contributions to the 2012 ShareLife Campaign. Should we realize the maximum potential of this effort, over one million new dollars would be raised for the work of our agencies. At a time when our social service agencies are reporting increased demands for their services, these new funds would help to introduce new programs and reduce waiting times for services for the marginalized in our communities.
CELEBRATING 36 YEARS OF WORKING WONDERS
Now in its 36th year of helping the whole community, the number of agencies funded by ShareLife’s annual appeal has increased significantly, reflecting the growing social needs of our community. Our agencies help more than 250,000 people in a number of program areas, including: children and youth, families at risk, women in need of shelter and abuse counselling, services for single and teen parents, the elderly and refugees and the education of clergy.
Thank you for your generosity!
Today is the 3rd ShareLife Collection.
Together we can work WONDERS!
ShareLife Total for 2011: $184,642
ShareLife To Date: $86,632
