Serving at the Lord’s table is a great honour and responsibility. The Altar Server Ministry Team would like to invite children who are 10 years or older (boys and girls), who are interested in committing and dedicating time and effort to serve Mass. Any adults who think they may desire to serve are encouraged to volunteer as well. All that is required is a desire to serve at the Altar of Our Lord. If you are interested, email: altarserversstgabe@gmail.com or contact the parish office.
The annual weekend Mass attendance count is being conducted at St. Gabriel’s Parish this weekend, October 18th/19th and next weekend, October 25th/ 26th.
The purpose of this important count is to have a more accurate assessment of the number of people attending Mass on a weekend.
At some point during Mass, you may notice a few volunteers with tally counters in the church. The counters will be doing their jobs as discreetly and non-intrusively as possible.

Psalm 96
This psalm celebrates the unimaginable greatness of the Lord who creates and sustains all of creation. The universality of God whose glory shines through all creation, from the least to the greatest parts.
Isaiah tells of God’s glory, greatness, strength and holiness. God is the only one, the only God.
In the response we are invited to ponder this mystery.
“Worship the Lord in holy splendour; tremble before him, all the earth.”
This Weekend, October 17th & 18th
In his letter for World Mission Sunday 2026, our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, writes: “…Let us all commit to contributing to the great mission of evangelization — which is always a work of love — according to our own vocation and the gifts we have received. Your prayers and practical support, particularly on World Mission Day, will be a great help in bringing the Gospel of God’s love to everyone, especially the poorest and those most in need. Every gift, no matter how small, becomes a meaningful act of missionary communion…”
There will be a second collection this weekend for the Evangelization of the Nations, otherwise known as World Mission Sunday. This is a worldwide collection for the missionary church and it is our opportunity to assist at-need Catholic Communities globally. Offerings are combined with offerings from other Catholics around the world and distributed to missions and dioceses. We are called to share from our abundance with those less fortunate who lack the basic essentials to know, love and praise God.
Thank you for your support of this important work.
Fair Trade coffee will be sold after all the Masses next weekend, October 24th /25th. The cost is $7.00 per bag.
Pure raw honey from the Sisters of the Carmel of the Infant Jesus, located south of Lake Simcoe in Zephyr, Ontario, will be sold in the Gathering Space on the weekend of Oct 24th / 25th at all the Masses, to help raise funds for their convent.
Prices are as follows: Gift Set: Bear Jar and 350-gram jar – $30 350 Gram bottle – $25 500-gram bottle – $30
Your prepared frozen casseroles are being collected at the Masses next weekend, October 24th and 25th, for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.
Good Shepherd provided over 400,000 meals last year to people who would otherwise have gone hungry. Please think about volunteering to help feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Three different recipes are available in the Parish Office or online at the Parish website. Casserole pans are also available in the Parish Office. Your support is a tremendous help and is appreciated in the fight to end hunger and chronic homelessness. For more information, you may contact the Parish Office at 416-221-8866.

Conversations on Creating a Circle of Compassion October 28th, 2026, 7:00 PM Gabriel Room
Please join us for our evening of discussion and reflection on meeting our brothers and sisters at the “margins” on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Gabriel Room. Be moved by an uplifting video of Fr. Greg Boyle and how he chose to stand “in awe at what the poor have to carry, rather than in judgment of the way they carry it”.
Fr Greg Boyle’s work with those on the margins is amazing. We hope that this gathering and others that follow may be baby steps in moving our parish community to respond more readily to Jesus’ commandment to love our neighbours, especially those on the margins.
