PRAYER DURING COVID 19
For all who have contracted coronavirus,
We pray for care and healing.
For those who are particularly vulnerable,
We pray for safety and protection.
For all who experience fear or anxiety,
We pray for peace of mind and spirit.
For affected families who are facing difficult decisions between food on the table or public safety,
We pray for policies that recognize their plight.
For those who do not have adequate health insurance,
We pray that no family will face financial burdens alone.
For those who are afraid to access care due to immigration status,
We pray for recognition of the God-given dignity of all.
For our brothers and sisters around the world,
We pray for shared solidarity.
For public officials and decisionmakers,
We pray for wisdom and guidance.
Father, during this time may your Church be a sign of hope, comfort and love to all.
Grant peace.
Grant comfort.
Grant healing.
Be with us, Lord.
Amen.
SHARELIFE
Living the Gospel by helping those with addictions
After the death of a close friend, Alex turned to hard drugs to escape his reality. He continued using, despite getting married and having a son. Realizing the impact of his addiction on his son, he sought help from St. Michael’s Homes, a ShareLife-funded agency. He completed their treatment program and, as a result of his recovery, he can now be there for his family. Alex credits St. Michael’s Homes for saving his life.
Due to Covid 19 the ShareLife collections have been postponed. However, our agencies continue to serve those in need. Parishioners can contribute online at sharelife.org/donate or by dropping off or mailing their contribution to the parish office.
FOOD FOR ROSALIE HALL & GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRE
Each month food we collect is sent to Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre. Unfortunately, with the current COVID-19 situation, we cannot accept any food donations at this time.
While we wait for updates from these outreach ministries, let us always be mindful of what they do.
Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential through the provision of a wide range of child development, community, residential and educational services.
Good Shepherd provides hot meals and shelter for the homeless in our city as well as a chance to start again through the Resettlement or DARE Programs.
CEMETERY GATES CLOSED TO FAMILY VISITATIONS
Please be advised that on Tuesday, April 7th Catholic Cemeteries & Funeral Services (CCFS) closed its gates until further notice for family visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CCFS is committed to serving our bereaved families and working to ensure their health and safety. We are equally committed to and focused on the health and safety of our employees.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, CCFS has been adjusting its operations and levels of public interaction in an effort to do our part to slow the transmission of this virus.

FINANCE CORNER
Although our Churches have remained closed since March 15th, 2020, our outreach programs and pastoral presence remain active.
Because there were no Masses celebrated with public participation, there were no offertory collections taken up. The reality is that our parishes rely on the support of our parishioners to operate through weekly offertory collections. Parish salaries, programs and ongoing operating costs (heating, water, electricity, etc.) are funded through the generosity of our parishioners. There is a challenge for the parish to maintain operations without the weekly offertory collection.
Monthly contributions to the Parish by monthly Pre-Authorized Giving or by credit card through “Donate Now” continue automatically.
Please consider changing your offertory giving, at this time, to monthly Pre-Authorized Giving. Forms are available at the Parish office or on-line at the Parish website in the “Weekly Giving” section under the Finances tab. You may, however, drop off your envelope at the parish office or mail it to the parish.
Homily – May 10, 2020
Sunday, May 10th, 2020Today’s gospel is part of John’s long discourse about what we’ve come to call the Last Supper. Our gospel starts with Jesus’s encouraging words,’ do not let your hearts be troubled’. But their hearts were troubled. They knew Jesus crossed the line when he drove the merchants and money lenders out of the Temple. They were more than troubles when Jesus told them that one of them would betray him. He warned Peter of his cowardly denial. It had to be an intense meal. The disciples looked at one another suspiciously, are you the betrayer? Am I the betrayer? Do not let your hearts be troubled. How can we know the way without you? They found it difficult to trust Jesus’s words, Believe in God, believe in me.
I read something in Facebook this past week. Often times people will say,’ we’re all in the same boat’ living thru this pandemic. But the writer said, we’re not all in the same boat but we all in the same storm.
This could be said of the today’s gospel; the disciples were all in the same storm of fright and confusion trying to cope with Jesus’ warning of betrayal and denial. They were bewildered when he told them he was going away. But each of them was in his own boat wondering, ‘it is I Lord?’ why are you leaving, what will I do? How can we know the way?
As we all live thru this never ending storm of lock down and isolation and as we worry over loved ones, each one of us is in our own boat. It could be the boat of unemployment and unpaid bills. It could be the boat of anxiety about family members. It could be the boat of loneliness and isolation. It could be the boat of anxiety about our own health. It could be a boat of any number of possibilities. But it’s our boat tossing us about in our common storm.
In a way we are experiencing what the disciples experienced when they were caught in a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. They cried out, ‘Lord save us’ and Jesus calmed the sea.
In these times it is hard to trust the words of Jesus, ‘do not let your hearts be troubled’ but we are troubled and wonder how long will this last?
These words of Jesus challenge all of us; Trust in God, trust in me.’

PRAYER DURING COVID 19
Most Merciful God,
We come to You in our weakness.
We come to You in our fear.
We come to You with trust.
For You alone are our hope.
We place before You the disease present in our world.
We turn to You in our time of need.
Bring wisdom to doctors.
Give understanding to scientists.
Endow caregivers with compassion and generosity.
Bring healing to those who are ill.
Protect those who are most at risk.
Give comfort to those who have lost a loved one.
Welcome those who have died into Your Eternal Home.
Stabilize our communities.
Unite us in our compassion.
Remove all fear from our hearts.
Fill us with confidence in Your care.
We ask this through Christ the Lord
Amen.

sharelife Living the Gospel by putting faith into action
“ShareLife is the way the rubber hits the road. This is how we validate the legitimacy and integrity of our Christian life: not by the words we speak, but by the love we share, in practical ways. That’s what we do with ShareLife.”
Cardinal Thomas Collins
