On March 25, St Gabriel’s was presented with the Green Sacred Space Award 2012 at the annual forum organized jointly by Greening Sacred Spaces and the Green Awakening Network. The forum was held this year at the Noor Cultural Center; its theme was “Green Choices for Faith Communities”, and the keynote speaker was Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party of Canada.
In her speech, May reminded the participants of the importance of making decisions based on sustainability. While Native Peoples are said to keep their seventh generation in mind when they make decisions as a society, we seldom even think of their impact on our children. She further asked if it is possible that while we say we worship God, in reality we may be adoring Mammon.

Founded by St. Paul of the Cross, every Passionist takes a special vow to spend his or her energies in promoting remembrance of the sufferings of Jesus, the memory of the Cross, and reflection of the meaning of the Cross for the world.
