The annual event of the Season of Creation began on September 1st (the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) and ends on October 4th (the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology).
This year’s theme is “To hope and act with Creation” and the symbol is “The first fruits of hope,” inspired by Romans 8:19-25. An introductory video and resources to observe this season at home, church and school may be found at the following link: https://seasonofcreation.org/2024/02/02/soc-2024-to-hope-and-act-with-creation/
On January 21st, 2024, Pope Francis inaugurated a Year of Prayer ahead of the 2025 Jubilee, calling on the faithful “to pray more fervently to prepare ourselves to live properly this grace-filled event and to experience the power of hope in God.”
The Year of Prayer, the Holy Father explained, is dedicated “to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer, prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church, prayer in the world.”
For the Good Shepherd Centre and Rosalie Hall
We are preparing for our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Thanks to community partners like you, individuals facing hunger are welcomed and served daily at Good Shepherd. In 2023, 330,020 meals were served. Currently, upward of 950 meals are served each day.
Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.
Urgently needed items include: Tuna and canned meats Soups, stews Chick peas, beans Canned tomatoes Corn & vegetables Pasta sauce Tea bags & coffee Granola bars Pancake mixes Peanut butter, jams Bagged rice Dried Meals Condiments (e.g. soy sauce, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard etc.)
Please check the expiry date as we cannot pass on expired foods. We thank you for your generous support!
Share your blessings this Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, but right now families are struggling to put enough food on the table. ShareLife has returned with the Food Security Grants – dedicating $750,000 to help those in need of a warm meal. Will you share your blessings by making a contribution to our parish’s ShareLife Campaign? Please give with love at sharelife.org/donate or our parish with a ShareLife envelope.
In support of the Passionist charism to go out to the margins of our community, a group within the parish is collecting donations of twin sized blankets, mattress covers, bed linens (sheets and pillowcases) and double sized duvets for senior women. Any help you could extend is greatly appreciated. Your donations can be dropped off at the parish office by September 29th.
The theme announced by His Holiness Pope Francis for the 110th World Day of Migrants and Refugees is “God Walks with His People.” In his message, Pope Francis encourages us to unite in prayer for all those who have had to leave their land in search of dignified living conditions. May we journey together with them and entrust them to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary… as they continue their journey.”
This occasion will be commemorated with a Mass on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Parish, located at 2340 Hurontario St. in Mississauga. Bishop Ivan Camilleri will preside and deliver the homily. All are warmly invited to attend.
Interested in crocheting or want to learn how? Join a new crochet group that is open to all ages – no experience is needed! We will be crocheting scarves for individuals in need, which will be distributed by our youth group during their next downtown Street Patrol event this winter.

Why do we say “Amen” instead of “A Woman” at the end of the songs at Church?
Because they are hymns not hers.

“We see and feel the pain of those struggling to feed their families, and it moves us deeply,” says Archbishop Francis Leo. “Proverbs 22:9 reminds us, ‘The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.’ Our faith calls and challenges us to be the beating heart and outstretched hands of Christ himself, extending his love and compassion to those in need. Together, we will continue to bring hope and dignity to our community, to those who suffer thus making a concrete difference in the lives of our neighbours.”
Please share your blessings by making a contribution at sharelife.org/donate or our parish using a ShareLife envelope. Thank you for living the Gospel.

A small group of St. Gabriel’s parishioners will be going to Yellowknife from September 27th to October 1st to visit the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith where Fr. Brando and Fatima Lee currently work.
We would like to take a monetary gift from our Parish to the Diocese. Many of their priests have to be responsible for the pastoral care of multiple communities as there is a shortage of priests there. These remote communities are often fly-in communities, transportation costs are extremely high. Our contribution will help support the travel costs of these priests.
To raise funds for this, we are holding a bake sale after all the masses next weekend, September 14th and 15th. Any baked goods donated to this sale is very much appreciated. Baked goods can be dropped off before the Masses to the kitchen.
Please support our efforts to support our brothers and sisters in the North by donating and purchasing the baked goods.
