Thank you very much for your overwhelming support of the Thanksgiving Food Drive. With your generous support, The Good Shepherd Centre and Rosalie Hall are able make a difference in the lives of the poor in our city.
Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.
Good Shepherd provides hot meals and shelter for the homeless in our city as well as a chance to start again through the Resettlement or DARE Programs.
Your food donations are very important as numbers of people in need continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired
Archbishop Leo encourages you to help your neighbour.
“We see and feel the pain of those struggling to feed their families, and it moves us deeply,” says Archbishop Francis Leo. “Proverbs 22:9 reminds us, ‘The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.’ Our faith calls and challenges us to be the beating heart and outstretched hands of Christ himself, extending his love and compassion to those in need. Together, we will continue to bring hope and dignity to our community, to those who suffer thus making a concrete difference in the lives of our neighbours.”
Please share your blessings by making a contribution at sharelife.org/donate or our parish using a ShareLife envelope. Thank you for living the Gospel.

Whose feast day did we celebrate on October 19? He is the founder of an order dedicated to the Passion of our Lord.
The answer is somewhere on this bulletin …
One of the most financially sound ways to support the Archdiocese of Toronto is a gift of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds). When you donate stocks, mutual funds and other publicly traded securities to a registered charity, you pay no capital gains tax and receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. It means a great tax break for you and more significant support of your parish and various archdiocesan charities such as ShareLife, St. Augustine’s Seminary, The Shepherds’ Trust and many others.
To donate securities, follow this link: Archdiocese of Toronto – Gift of Securities (archtoronto.org) and download the “How to Gift Securities Info Sheet” and “Letter of Direction.”

The Indigenous Healing & Reconciliation fund is part of a national effort announced by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Archdiocese of Toronto has allocated $2.7 million of its $6 million pledge to charitable initiatives supporting healing and reconciliation.
The collection on the weekend of October 5th/6th provides an opportunity for the faithful to contribute to this important initiative. For more information or to donate online please visit: www.archtoronto.org/healingandreconciliation – thank you for your generosity!
Answer the call to compassion
100,000 people in Toronto are expected to turn to food charities for the first time in 2024. Through our parish’s support, ShareLife, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto and a generous anonymous donor are committing $750,000 to fund food banks and meal programs throughout the archdiocese.
Reaching our parish campaign goal will help to make these grants possible. Please help combat hunger at sharelife.org/donate or by giving at our parish using a ShareLife envelope.
Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 42 casseroles for September. For October, your prepared frozen casseroles will be collected at all the Masses on the weekend of October 26th/27th to be delivered to the Good Shepherd Centre.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – Monday, September 30th, 2024
Special Collection – October 5th /6th, 2024
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation takes place each year on September 30th. As part of our ongoing commitment to support healing and reconciliation, the Archdiocese of Toronto will hold a special collection on the weekend of October 5th /6th.
The national day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. This federal statutory holiday was created through legislative amendments made by Parliament.
Orange Shirt Day, which also takes place on September 30th, is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
Share your blessings this Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, but right now families are struggling to put enough food on the table. ShareLife has returned with the Food Security Grants – dedicating $750,000 to help those in need of a warm meal. Will you share your blessings by making a contribution to our parish’s ShareLife Campaign? Please give with love at sharelife.org/donate or our parish with a ShareLife envelope.
In support of the Passionist charism to go out to the margins of our community, a group within the parish is collecting donations of twin sized blankets, mattress covers, bed linens (sheets and pillowcases) and double sized duvets for senior women. Any help you could extend is greatly appreciated. Your donations can be dropped off at the parish office by October 5th.

A bequest in your Will to our Church is an acknowledgment of your returning to God a portion of the gifts He has bestowed on you during your lifetime. Charitable bequests can have a favourable impact on your overall estate plan.
Bequests are NOT just for the wealthy! Consider including your parish or any of the archdiocesan charities or departments in your Will. Let your Will reflect your Catholic values.
We have a free estate planning guide to help you make your plan. The Archdiocese of Toronto also maintains a list of advisors across the GTA who are available to assist in your estate planning and the preparation of a Will.
Please contact us at Development@archtoronto.org for a list of Catholic estate advisors in your area. Remember about the importance of using the correct legal names when arranging bequests or other planned gifts
