We are pleased to report that Borys has found work at an aircraft manufacturer in Malton. Daughter, Zlata, is enjoying Grade 6 and has made friends. Son, Zakhar, is in junior kindergarten and loves music. Mom, Nataliya, is a busy mom who appreciates all the assistance, rides and help that the school the parish refugee team has been involved with. Her sister and part of her sister’s family arrived in April and are in temporary government accommodation in Etobicoke.
A big thank you to all who have donated and assisted this wonderful family from a very troubled part of the world.
John Ashworth.

Thus far our parish has raised $72,643 toward our goal of $192,000
“Your sacrificial gift will truly make a difference in the life of someone turning to a ShareLife agency in their moment of need.” – Cardinal Thomas Collins
The third ShareLife Sunday of the year is June 4th. We ask you to share your blessings and give generously through the parish or at sharelife.org. Thank you for living the Gospel!
Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 39 casseroles for April. For May, your prepared frozen casseroles will be collected at the Masses on the weekend of May 27th/ 28th for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.
You may pick up a copy of a casserole recipes and a pan from the Parish Office. Three recipes are also available on St. Gabriel’s web site. Please remember to mark the label on the pan lid with the name of the casserole.
More volunteers are urgently needed to help feed the hungry in our city. For more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416 221-2791.
Thank you for your generous support of Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre. They are very grateful.
Rosalie Hall, assists young parents and their children, offering prenatal supports including prenatal classes, nutrition and can help find a child care provider.
They can provide parenting classes, staff to help the transition to parenthood and a school program where young parents can finish high school and be close to their babies in the Early Learning Child Care Centre. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.
Good Shepherd provides more than 800 hot meals each day. As housing costs soar, they provide affordable housing and assisted living supports to help seniors and other homeless to find their way back to secure housing and for some, a chance to start again through the Resettlement or DARE Programs.
Your food donations are very important as numbers of people in need continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired

If you are planning to be a teacher, it is important for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic school board in Ontario, there must be a letter of reference from your pastor as part of your application.
The letter explaining that you belong to and participate in the community cannot be written if he does not know you. It is recommended that you have a conversation with your pastor early in the process well before the applications are to be submitted.
One of the most financially sound ways to support the Archdiocese of Toronto is with the gift of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds). When you donate securities to a registered charity, you pay no capital gains tax and receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. It means a great tax break for you and an increased support of various archdiocesan charities such as your Parish, ShareLife, St. Augustine’s Seminary and many others.
For further information, send an email to the Development Office at development@archtoronto.org or call 416-934-3400 Ext. 519.

The Archdiocesan Day of Prayer for Vocations is on Friday, May 5th, 2023. On this day, parishes throughout the archdiocese hold prayer initiatives dedicated to vocations.
This year we are inviting you to take a moment on this day to pray for two intentions: for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for endurance in vocations already committed.
God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to consecrated persons. Send your Holy Spirit to help others to respond generously and courageously to your call. May our community of faith support vocations of sacrificial love in our youth and young adults. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

I am so grateful to be able to be here to lead this faith community into the future.
But I am especially grateful to all those who make the present possible. So many parishioners give of their time and talent to help make
St. Gabriel’s Passionist Parish what it is today. To all our musicians, lectors, ministers of the Eucharist, altar servers, ministers of hospitality, those responsible for decorating the church, those involved in the Garden Ministry and especially this year, to everyone involved in the Refugee Committee, who made it possible for us to host our new Ukrainian family. – Thank you.
And of course, to every member of the parish – thank you for your presence and continued support!
Fr. Brando is thinking of the family of St. Gabriel’s this Holy Week. He misses everyone and has you all in his prayers. He hopes that everyone has a very Happy Easter.
