We pray for those with power over war or реасе, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions. Above аll, we pray for аll your precious children, at-risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Реасе. Amen.
St. Gabriel’s Parish is hoping to sponsor at least one Ukrainian family. This will be done under the guidance of the Office for Refugees Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT). These are early days in this initiative and much of the process for being matched with a Ukrainian family in need has yet to be announced. As our Refugee Committee receives information and time lines from ORAT, the parish will be updated.
Sponsorship of a family will require the support of the St. Gabriel’s community in many different ways. If you would like to learn more about the volunteer roles and to sign up, you can access that through the parish website under Ministries, Refugee Committee. If you speak Ukrainian, we would appreciate you identifying that skill through the website.
Since volunteers on the committee will work one on one with the sponsored family members, it is classified as a High Risk Volunteer position by the Archdiocese and screening by the Volunteer Screening Committee is required.
For our Parish, this will be the fourth refugee sponsorship we will have done in the last 10 years.
We thank you, the St. Gabriel Parish members, in advance for your support.
ShareLife is making a difference
“Many aspects of pre-Covid life are returning, such as the gradual reopening of our parishes. But we must remember that, for many people, their suffering continues. ShareLife-funded agencies have been helping thousands of people since the pandemic began. They quickly adapted their programs in light of safety and the changing needs of the people they serve.” – Cardinal Thomas Collins
Our parishioners have contributed $39,480 toward our goal of $198,000.
The next ShareLife Sunday collection is May 1st.
Thank you for supporting ShareLife!
Thank you for your generous support of Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre.
Your food donations are so important as Covid 19 remains with us and numbers of needy people continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired.
Your prepared frozen casseroles are being collected at the Masses next weekend for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.
Please think about volunteering to help feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Three different recipes are available in the Parish Office or online at the Parish website. Casserole pans are also available from the Parish Office. If you require more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416-221-2791.

Your support is invaluable and we cannot thank you enough!”

A VIRTUAL EVENT RECOMMENDED BY THE OFFICE FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIAN UNITY AND RELIGIOUS RELATIONS WITH JUDAISM
The Christian-Jewish Dialogue of Montreal has invited Dr. Saundra Sterling Epstein (Sunnie), a well-known Jewish educator and advocate, to facilitate a program that will focus on dialogue as a sacred experience deeply rooted in our faith traditions. Participants will learn and explore the joys and challenges inherent in dialogue. We hope this conversation will sharpen our communication skills and foster ever deeper encounters between Jews and Catholics in the Greater Toronto Area.
Register by emailing here: rebsherril@outlook.com (Registrants will receive the Zoom link)
The theme of the contest is, “Cultivating Friendship and Solidarity,” in light of the United Nations’ International Day of Human Fraternity (February 4th). This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to explore the theme of how our diverse faith traditions call on us to Rebuild, Restore and Renew our communities together, through cultivating friendship and solidarity. We encourage participants to not only highlight the contest theme but also to reach out to collaborate and engage with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Entries can come from an individual or a team.
The video may be up to three minutes maximum in length and submit by the contest closing date of Tuesday, April 19th, 2022.
Please pick up your Offertory envelopes in the Gathering Space if you have not already done so. Thank you.

ShareLife agencies serve everyone.
Today’s Gospel shares the parable of the woman accused of adultery, a message of Our Lord’s great love, forgiveness and respect for all people.
Likewise, ShareLife agencies are there to support the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our communities. ShareLife-funded social service agencies have an ‘open intake policy’ and provide help based on need—not on religion, lifestyle, gender or ethnicity.
With last week’s ShareLife collection, our parishioners have contributed $9,040 toward our goal of $198,000. Thank you for supporting ShareLife!

As you know, Russia has invaded Ukraine, resulting in widespread violence and a looming humanitarian crisis. In response to the request of parishioners, the Archdiocese of Toronto has launched a humanitarian relief effort to help the Ukrainian people at this time.
Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians have already fled their homes and are trying to find shelter in neighbouring countries. The United Nations estimates that there could eventually be up to five million Ukrainian refugees, depending on how the war transpires.
During Lent, a donation to help Ukrainians who are suffering due to this war would be a most appreciated gift.
The Archdiocese of Toronto will channel donations to support the Office for Refugees, Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA).
ORAT is Canada’s largest private Sponsorship Agreement Holder, which helps bring hundreds of newcomers to our country each year. It will use donations to bring Ukrainian refugees to Canada as soon as possible.
Your donation will help Ukrainians who are beset by violence in Eastern Europe and it will help some of them find a new home in Canada.
Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:
Online through the Archdiocese of Toronto website: www.archtoronto.org By phone through the Development Office – 416-934-3411 Through the parish, making cheques payable to: St. Gabriel’s Parish – Ukraine Relief –
Please continue to pray for the Ukrainian people and all those who suffer under the human tragedy of war. Thank you for your continued assistance.

My name is Chloe and I have been a member of the youth group since 2016. I first joined as part of my preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. However, as I spent more time with all the other members, I felt like I truly belonged and continued to be an active member after many years.
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend our parish Lenten Retreat and listen to Fr. Jim O’Shea preach about various issues of today. Fr. Jim mentioned how as children of God, we must make everyone feel welcome, no matter what background they come from. As a young Catholic who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Fr. Jim’s points made me feel heard.
There have been times where I did not feel welcome in the Catholic Church because of comments I received from other Catholics outside our parish community. However, after attending this retreat, I felt inspired to strengthen my faith once again. This was a great start to my Lenten season.
Our church and our youth group has helped me on both a spiritual and personal level. It is a place filled with great role models and memorable experiences where I feel safe and supported. Our parish motto, “We Belong, We Believe, We Become” resonates with me always. I am so grateful to be a part of a welcoming church community!

Your helping hand is the answer
After two years of crisis, our communities need hope and healing. That hope can be found in you – the “hands and feet of Christ” making possible the life-changing work of ShareLife agencies.
Vulnerable people are turning to these agencies for support more than ever. And the problems are many, ranging from mental illness, to poverty, addiction and isolation.
The solution is in reach: your hands and ours, working together to live the Gospel.
March 27th is ShareLife Sunday. Please give generously.
For March, your prepared frozen casseroles are being collected at the Masses next weekend for delivery to the Good Shepherd Centre.
More volunteers are needed to become active in helping to feed our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Three different recipes are available in the Parish Office or online at the Parish website. Casserole pans are also available from the Parish Office. If you require more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416-221-2791.
