R.C.I.A. AND ADULT FAITH DEVELOPMENT

Meetings in preparation for the R.C.I.A. (Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults) will begin this month. These meetings are for persons interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. The exploration may lead the candidate to seek baptism, and become a member of the Catholic Christian community; or for Christians already baptized into another Christian denomination, the reception into the Catholic Church.

Adult Catholics who have not received the sacrament of Confirmation but who wish to do so are also encouraged to attend these sessions.

If you are interested in joining the RCIA meetings or if you would like to have more information about it, please contact Sr. Maria Lucia at 416-221-8866.

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY – September 18th

This Sunday is Stewardship Sunday. The goal of stewardship is to increase the engagement of everyone in the life of their parish, inviting us all to become more involved in the myriad of different ways to serve others. Cardinal Collins has prepared his annual homily for Stewardship Sunday and has asked that it be shared with the parishioners in the Archdiocese.

The homily comes in either video or written format and is now available on our website at: www.archtoronto.org/stewardship under the Stewardship Sunday tab.

The casseroles are easy to make and we have the recipes and casserole pans right here in the Parish Office. The recipes are also available on the Parish website. If you require more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416-221-2791.

SEASON OF CREATION 2022 – INTERFAITH PRAYER SERVICE

Wednesday, Sept. 21st from 6:00 to 7:30 PM

Room 4A, Catholic Pastoral Centre
1155 Yonge St., Toronto

The calamities around the world are due to environmental disasters and all faith communities are concerned and actively advocating to save our common home. Keeping in mind the importance of creation, the Christians around the world are actively preparing to celebrate the Season of Creation, from September 1st, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to October 4th, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron Saint of Ecology.

The proposed theme for this year is “Listening to the Voice of Creation” which is symbolised by the “Burning Bush”. It is chosen by an ecumenical steering committee and inspiration is taken from Psalm 19:1-4. The Office for Interreligious Dialogue at the Archdiocese of Toronto invites members of different faith communities to celebrate the Season of Creation with us in-person through prayer and action.

WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEE

September 25th

The theme announced by His Holiness Pope Francis for the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees is “Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees.” In his message, Pope Francis reminds us that inclusion of those most vulnerable is the necessary condition for full citizenship in God’s Kingdom.

Indeed, the Lord says, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me” (Mt 25:34-36).

THE GARDEN SHED

Please come to the following two events, meet members of the Garden Ministry and help to get the garden ready for the winter – “Many hands make light work!” Energy in the form of light refreshments will be provided.

On Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, we will be cutting back spent flowers and collecting seeds for planting next year.

On Saturday, October 22nd, from 10:00 AM to12:00 Noon, we will be putting the garden to bed: covering the boxes, returning trellises, protective cages and Muskoka chairs to the garage, sharpening tools, mulching beds, etc.

FINANCE CORNER

One of the most financially sound ways to support the Archdiocese of Toronto is with the gift of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds). When you donate securities to a registered charity, you pay no capital gains tax and receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. It means a great tax break for you and an increased support of various archdiocesan charities. For further information, contact the Development Office at 416-934-3400 Ext. 519/561 or send an email to development@archtoronto.org
