A Parish Blog
No doubt you will have noticed the painting The Passion of the Earth by Br. Michael Moran, CP in the gathering space of our church.
We have created a blog space – a place where you can write your thoughts, and comment on the ideas of others – an online parish conversation. It is being hosted on the Passionist Solidarity Network website at https://www.passionistsolidaritynetwork.org/st-gabriels-parish-blog-on-the-passion-of-the-earth/artistic-insight-into-the-crisis-of-earth#comments. We welcome you to join in this conversation in respectful dialogue. Just click on the link and start typing.
Let’s share our thoughts and learn with and from each other.
At this time, we would like to update our Parish records.
If you have changed your address, telephone number or email address, please let us know. Thank you for your cooperation.

For the Good Shepherd Centre and Rosalie Hall
We are preparing for our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Thanks to community partners like you, individuals facing hunger are welcomed and served daily at Good Shepherd. In 2023, 330,020 meals were served. Currently, upward of 950 meals are served each day.
Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.
Urgently needed items include: Tuna and canned meats Soups, stews Chick peas, beans Canned tomatoes Corn & vegetables Pasta sauce Tea bags & coffee Granola bars Pancake mixes Peanut butter, jams Bagged rice Dried Meals Condiments (e.g. soy sauce, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard etc.)
Please check the expiry date as we cannot pass on expired foods. We thank you for your generous support!
Special Collection – October 5th/6th, 2024
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation takes place each year on September 30th. As part of our ongoing commitment to support healing and reconciliation, the Archdiocese of Toronto will hold a special collection on the weekend of October 5th/6th.
The Indigenous Healing & Reconciliation fund is part of a national effort announced by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. To date, the fund has raised more than 50% of its $30 million target as pledged by the Canadian bishops and dioceses throughout Canada. The Archdiocese of Toronto has allocated $2.7 million of its $6 million pledge to charitable initiatives supporting healing and reconciliation.
The collection on the weekend of October 5th/6th provides an opportunity for the faithful to contribute to this important initiative. For more information or to donate online please visit: www.archtoronto.org/healingandreconciliation – thank you for your generosity!
Answer the call to compassion
100,000 people in Toronto are expected to turn to food charities for the first time in 2024. Through our parish’s support, ShareLife, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto and a generous anonymous donor are committing $750,000 to fund food banks and meal programs throughout the archdiocese.
Reaching our parish campaign goal will help to make these grants possible. Please help combat hunger at sharelife.org/donate or by giving at our parish using a ShareLife envelope.
Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you to the volunteers who prepared 42 casseroles for September. For October, your prepared frozen casseroles will be collected at all the Masses on the weekend of October 26th/27th to be delivered to the Good Shepherd Centre.
You may pick up a copy of a casserole recipe and a pan from the Parish Office. Three recipes are also available on St. Gabriel’s website. Please remember to mark the label on the pan lid with the name of the casserole.
More volunteers are urgently needed to help feed the hungry in our city. For more information, please contact Irene Albrecht at 416 221-2791.
