The Altar Server Ministry Team would like to invite children who are 10 years or older (boys and girls), who are interested in committing and dedicating time and effort to serve Mass. Any adults who think they may desire to serve are encouraged to volunteer as well. If you are interested, contact the parish office or email: altarserversstgabe@gmail.com
The Adult choir has returned for the 2024-2025 year. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, and sings at the 10:30 AM Mass. New members are most welcome.
At the 10:30 AM Mass from mid-September to June each year, children ages 4 to 10 have the opportunity to gather as a group for the Liturgy of the Word led by adults who have volunteered. We are in need of more volunteers to assist this program. For more information or to volunteer, please call Dawn Burke at 416 671-0561 or leave a message at the Parish Office.
A Parish Blog
No doubt you will have noticed the painting The Passion of the Earth by Br. Michael Moran, CP in the gathering space of our church.
We have created a blog space – a place where you can write your thoughts, and comment on the ideas of others – an online parish conversation. It is being hosted on the Passionist Solidarity Network website at https://www.passionistsolidaritynetwork.org/st-gabriels-parish-blog-on-the-passion-of-the-earth/artistic-insight-into-the-crisis-of-earth#comments

The annual event of the Season of Creation began on September 1st (the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) and ends on October 4th (the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology).
This year’s theme is “To hope and act with Creation” and the symbol is “The first fruits of hope,” inspired by Romans 8:19-25. An introductory video and resources to observe this season at home, church and school may be found at the following link: https://seasonofcreation.org/2024/02/02/soc-2024-to-hope-and-act-with-creation/
On January 21st, 2024, Pope Francis inaugurated a Year of Prayer ahead of the 2025 Jubilee, calling on the faithful “to pray more fervently to prepare ourselves to live properly this grace-filled event and to experience the power of hope in God.”
The Year of Prayer, the Holy Father explained, is dedicated “to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer, prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church, prayer in the world.”
For the Good Shepherd Centre and Rosalie Hall
We are preparing for our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Thanks to community partners like you, individuals facing hunger are welcomed and served daily at Good Shepherd. In 2023, 330,020 meals were served. Currently, upward of 950 meals are served each day.
Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.
Urgently needed items include: Tuna and canned meats Soups, stews Chick peas, beans Canned tomatoes Corn & vegetables Pasta sauce Tea bags & coffee Granola bars Pancake mixes Peanut butter, jams Bagged rice Dried Meals Condiments (e.g. soy sauce, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard etc.)
Please check the expiry date as we cannot pass on expired foods. We thank you for your generous support!
Share your blessings this Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, but right now families are struggling to put enough food on the table. ShareLife has returned with the Food Security Grants – dedicating $750,000 to help those in need of a warm meal. Will you share your blessings by making a contribution to our parish’s ShareLife Campaign? Please give with love at sharelife.org/donate or our parish with a ShareLife envelope.
In support of the Passionist charism to go out to the margins of our community, a group within the parish is collecting donations of twin sized blankets, mattress covers, bed linens (sheets and pillowcases) and double sized duvets for senior women. Any help you could extend is greatly appreciated. Your donations can be dropped off at the parish office by September 29th.
The theme announced by His Holiness Pope Francis for the 110th World Day of Migrants and Refugees is “God Walks with His People.” In his message, Pope Francis encourages us to unite in prayer for all those who have had to leave their land in search of dignified living conditions. May we journey together with them and entrust them to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary… as they continue their journey.”
This occasion will be commemorated with a Mass on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Parish, located at 2340 Hurontario St. in Mississauga. Bishop Ivan Camilleri will preside and deliver the homily. All are warmly invited to attend.
Interested in crocheting or want to learn how? Join a new crochet group that is open to all ages – no experience is needed! We will be crocheting scarves for individuals in need, which will be distributed by our youth group during their next downtown Street Patrol event this winter.

A bequest in your Will to our Church is an acknowledgment of your returning to God a portion of the gifts He has bestowed on you during your lifetime. Charitable bequests can have a favourable impact on your overall estate plan.
Bequests are NOT just for the wealthy! Consider including your parish or any of the archdiocesan charities or departments in your Will. Let your Will reflect your Catholic values.
We have a free estate planning guide to help you make your plan. The Archdiocese of Toronto also maintains a list of advisors across the GTA who are available to assist in your estate planning and the preparation of a Will.
Please contact us at Development@archtoronto.org for a list of Catholic estate advisors in your area. Remember about the importance of using the correct legal names when arranging bequests or other planned gifts
