Belonging, Believing, Becoming Stewardship Campaign

Because of your generosity, we have raised 51% of our goal. Your gifts are present in every Mass celebrated, every person visited, every child formed in faith, and every act of service carried out in Christ’s name. Thank you.

Visit our stewardship team in the Gathering Space after all Masses on April 18th & 19th . Light refreshments will be provided.

FAQ of the Week What is Gratitude Sunday?

On April 26th and 27th we will gather to give thanks for all the gifts committed through this campaign. We will be blessing and praying over our gifts together − a beautiful moment to celebrate what God is doing in and through this parish. If you have not yet responded, we invite you to do so this weekend so that your gift may be part of that blessing.

Forms can be returned in the collection basket, the Gathering Space box, or at the parish office.

PSALM MEDITATION

Divine Mercy Sunday
Psalm 118

Again we sing the Easter song of Psalm 118 in celebration of this holiest of seasons which lasts to Pentecost.

Chapter 2 of Acts presents an idyllic view of the earliest days of the Church. Days marked by awe, the teaching and fellowship of the Apostles, the continuation of the Eucharist in the breaking of the bread, prayer, and wonders and signs done by the Apostles. A time of holding all things in common, of caring for all, of glad and generous hearts, of praising God and of goodwill, and a time of remarkable growth in the numbers of the faithful.

Our response is to offer praise to God and to rejoice in our salvation:

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his steadfast love endures forever.”
…and…
“The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.”

If you have a few minutes, why not look prayerfully at psalm 118, today’s psalm? In a spirit of quiet personal celebration of Easter. Why not make our home in Jesus: as Jesus makes his home in us?

SHARELIFE

Through ShareLife, you provide safety to those in need

Your kindness makes it possible for refugees to create a sanctuary here in Canada, providing hope and new beginnings to our brothers and sisters in need. Like Hetvi, who came to Canada seeking refuge but found her hope shattered by her husband’s control and abuse. Isolated and desperate, her cries for help initially went unheard. Because you care, she found solace through Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS), a Catholic Charities agency you support through ShareLife. Here, she received housing support and counselling in her native language, as well as financial and legal assistance, food banks, childcare, and healthcare. The Office for Refugees of the Archdiocese of Toronto is another agency you support through ShareLife, facilitating critical care for refugees.

Director Deacon Rudy Ovcjak says: “On behalf of the thousands of refugees who have been forced to flee their homes and native lands, and who now find refuge in Canada—a land of freedom and peace—I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible kindness and generosity. Your unwavering support allows our office to sponsor hundreds of refugees each year, the majority of whom are Christians fleeing persecution for their faith in Christ.”

The second ShareLife Sunday of the year is April 26th. Please give at the parish using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at sharelife.org/donate.

THE LIFE STORY PROGRAMME

Presented by the Ministry for Maturing Adults
St. Gabriel’s Passionist Parish
Thursday, April 16th to Thursday, June 4tth, from 2:00 to 3:30

“The life story programme provides an opportunity to stop, take stock, and look back over the process of life in order to gain deeper understanding, clearer perspective and a more integrated view. Undertaken from a faith perspective, it is a search for evidence in your life that God has been with you and is still with you.”

Dr. Richard Johnson, author of The 12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality: Powerful Lessons on Living Agelessly

Members of the Ministry for Maturing Adults will facilitate the reflection on life experience in each decade of life. From these reflections, the participants will write stories that are significant to them. Later on, each person will choose what they wish to share from their personal reflection and writing.

We will meet for a total of 8 sessions on consecutive Thursdays, April 16th to June 4th from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.

The cost for the workbook is $20. Please register by April 9th, by sending an email to mam@stgabrielsparish.ca, and include your name and telephone number.
