Wednesday, November 11th is Remembrance Day, a day to remember all who have served, and continue to serve in our armed forces, especially those who have died and those wounded in battle. We pray for healing and peace; that one day, all peoples will lay down their arms and embrace one another as brothers and sisters in one human family.
A Book of Remembrance is placed on the altar for the month of November. You are invited to write the names of your deceased relatives and friends in the book. They will be remembered at all the Masses celebrated in November.
Our Wall of Remembrance is dedicated to all those Members of our Faith Community who have gone home to God this year. Please continue to pray for them. A candle will be lit before each Mass in remembrance of them.
A Parents’ Meeting for children registered to Receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation in 2027 will be held on Thursday, November 12th at 7:30 PM
Textbooks will be sold for $15 (cash or cheque only)
Saturday, November 28th, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Do you feel tired and exhausted with all the conflicts and negativities surrounding us in the world? Perhaps you are carrying a heavy burden in your personal life, or you may simply feel a desire for something deeper, a renewed relationship with God. You are invited to come away for an afternoon of listening, reflecting and sharing at our Parish Advent Retreat, directed by Passionist Jack Conley.
Fr Jack Conley, CP is from the Passionist community in Chicago. He specializes in retreat ministry, and is a much sought after preacher of parish missions and retreats.
Session One of our retreat “Awakening Wonder, Cultivating Awe, Deepening Connection” will be on VISION: Seeing as God sees; and Session Two will be on HOPE: Finding Courage in an Age of Disillusionment.
Hope you can take time to join us for the retreat, so as to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Christ.

Psalm 63
This psalm of lament expresses our longing for God. Most psalms ask God for something, or praise God for having done something, or invite us to act in a certain way.
Psalm 63 is different.
It expresses a longing for God’s self. It seeks nothing from God, it seeks only God. Only God can fill our deepest longings, not by giving us things, but by offering us friendship and intimacy.
God’s steadfast love is better than life.
“O God, you are my God, I seek you… I have looked upon you, beholding your power and glory… I will bless you…and call on your name… I think of you… …for you have been my help.”

“The Lord is the refuge of the poor.” — Psalm 14:6
On November 15th this year, the SSVP – St. Gabriel Conference will participate in the ninth national campaign for the World Day of the Poor (WPD). In his message, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that poverty is not simply about material deprivation. Too often, those experiencing poverty are also deprived of a voice, a place in society and the dignity of being seen and heard. The Holy Father challenges us to do more than speak about poverty. He calls us to listen to people experiencing poverty, to stand alongside them and, ultimately, to become a refuge for the poor.
This call speaks directly to the heart of the mission of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Your Society of Saint Vincent de Paul at St. Gabriel invites you to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters, especially at this uncertain time. We encourage you to lend a hand by donating or giving us Your Time that Can Change a Life. Volunteer With Us!
Want to learn more? Meet with a St. Gabriel Parish SSVP volunteer after each mass in the Gathering Space on November 14th and 15th.
Shine a Light for Persecuted Christians on Red Wednesday, November 18th 2026
On November 18th, 2026, join Red Wednesday, an initiative of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). Red Wednesday began officially with ACN UK in 2016, and has grown into a global movement with events in over 20 countries raising awareness of Christian persecution. This year’s theme asks: “Who stands with persecuted Christians?”
In Toronto, where Red Wednesday has been commemorated since 2018, a Mass will be held at 5:30 PM. at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica with Bishop Vincent Nguyen, Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto presiding. As in previous years, the Cathedral’s facade will be illuminated in red. Participate by attending the Mass, wearing red, or organizing local activities.
