ACCOMPANYING THE LONELY AND VULNERABLE

Saturday, February 4th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (Parish Hall)
78 Clifton Road (Mt. Pleasant & St. Clair)

Guest Presenter, Kathy Matusiak Costa,
Director of Compassionate Community Care

In June 2016, Euthanasia was legalized in Canada; at the time, many thought it would impact only a few. From then until June 2022, there have already been 11 620 reported assisted deaths in Ontario and the trend keeps going up. Among those who choose this are those who experience immense loneliness and hopelessness. How do we as Christians assist those who feel their life lacks value or purpose? A culture that values others can emerge when we accompany people through the difficult times of their life.

OLPH Parish will be hosting a day of reflection on accompanying the lonely and vulnerable. Gain confidence to journey with those who are suffering, socially isolated, sick, or dying, to renew their hope and purpose in life. Explore how to empower others to do the same. Discover ways our Catholic faith can guide our vision and gain practical tools for how we each, in our own little way and state in life, can help others find hope.

Free Event
Register by Wednesday, February 1st, 2023.

A potluck lunch will be served

2023 OFFERTORY ENVELOPES

Offertory envelopes for 2023 are still available in the hall near the Gabriel Room.

If there is no box with your name on it and you wish to use envelopes, please advise the parish office either in person, by email or by phone.

You normally would not have an envelope box assigned to you if you are donating via Pre-Authorized Giving or Donate Now via the Archdiocese.

On the first few 2023 envelopes, please write your name and complete address so that the office can ensure they have your correct information when sending out 2022 tax receipts.

To ensure the proper recording for tax receipt purposes, please do not use any envelopes from 2022 or any prior year for any 2023 donations.

May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God’s blessings shower upon you and bestow upon each of you a bright, healthy and healthy 2023.

CARING FOR THE HOMELESS IN OUR CITY

Thank you for your generous support of Rosalie Hall and the Good Shepherd Centre over Christmas. They are very appreciative.

Rosalie Hall assists young parents and their children to realize their potential. The food we donate from our parish often replenishes their empty food bank.

Good Shepherd provides hot meals and shelter for the homeless in our city as well as a chance to start again through theResettlement or DARE Programs.

Your food donations are so important as numbers of people in need continue to increase. Please check the expiry dates before donating since we cannot pass on food that has expired.

FINANCE CORNER

Several boxes of offertory envelopes are in the hall by the Gabriel Room. If you have not picked yours up, please do so as soon as possible.

Under the Canadian Income Tax laws, a donor is entitled to an income tax credit against income taxes payable based on a tax receipt from a registered Canadian charity like St. Gabriel’s parish. You should consider using offertory envelopes, enrolling in Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) or Donate Now via Archdiocese of Toronto’s online giving for your offertory giving no matter the amount of your weekly donation. Envelopes are available at the Parish Office if you would like them.
